Maciej Adamek at the next Festival prologue
At 6 PM on Thursday, the 16th of March, our Museum will host Maciej Adamek. His film “Two Worlds” (Dwa światy) won The Award for Overcoming Dangers named after Aleksander Kamiński at the 26th Media Festival Man in Danger.
Before the meeting with the author the Kinematograf cinema will screen the above mentioned Two Worlds film as well as The Competition (Konkurs) – a documentary awarded at the Festival in 2003.
Two Worlds tells the story of Laura who is taking her six-grade exam. Yet her daily life is full of much harder tests – she buys coal, pays bills, talks to the Social Insurance Institution. Her parents are deaf without speech and in her everyday life she acts as their interpreter, ensuring their only chance for normal functioning in our world. They talk a lot using sign language but it often turns out that the communication barrier – the barrier of sounds and speech – is very difficult to overcome.
The heroines of The Competition are girls taking part in the Mini Miss of Poland contest. The film focuses on the dreams of children involved in the competition, rather than on the course of contest as such. Most often the dreams are about winning fame and earning fortune, which may be surprising from children aged 6-11.
The discussion with the author and the films will be rendered into sign language. Admission in free.
Our monthly meetings with documentary film serve as an introduction to the 27th Media Festival Man in Danger.
